We are pleased to announce that we have successfully completed our Great Wall of China Trek, and returned to the UK on Sunday 16th October 2011. The challenge was gruelling at times, and the scenery breathtaking. However, all of the training we had done clearly paid off as both of us managed the challenge with out [...] Well, its getting close! So far, we have raised over £4,300 for the Institute of Cancer Research UK – please help us in hitting our target by using the Just Giving link on the left to make a donation online. We are now only approx. 6 weeks away from jetting off to China for our trek! The [...] Our training and preperation continued for our Great Wall Hike, with a recent trip to Snowdon in North Wales. This was an excellent opportunity for us to not only expose ourselves to some relatively similar terrain, but also to gauge of overall fitness levels as well as making sure our kit was up to the job. [...] We have been busy in the past few weeks making some changes to our website, and you will now see on the right hand side a new style Facebook application which we hope will deliver more useful information, and enable our supporters to interact with us more freely. In addition, you will also see a new Twitter [...] I am delighted to announce that my wife Nicola is pregnant, with a due date of April 15th 2011. A picture of the 14 week scan is here on the right, and mother and baby are doing well. However, this does have a negative impact on our plans! With a due date of April 15th 2011, [...] August has proven to be a very influential month in terms of our fund-raising for the Institute of Cancer Research UK. In this one month alone, we raised over £1,300 for the charity, for the main due to our very successful fund-raising day at Fairford Cricket Club on Sunday 29th August 2010 – more info [...] Our Summer Raffle fundraising draw takes place this coming Sunday 29th August 2010 at Fairford Cricket Club. We have so far raised over £500.00 from ticket sales for the draw. Thank you to everyone for your support to date. A limited amount of tickets are still available, and will also be on sale on the day. In [...] On Saturday 5th June 2010, we kicked off our training preperations with a 9 mile hike in the Cotswolds. We both put our equipment, boots, and legs to the test and completed the walk in approx 4 hours. Happily, we completed this with out too many issues, other than the odd blister! We have now [...] We are now over the £600.00 mark for the Institute of Cancer Research UK – thank you once again to everyone for your support to date. On the weekend of June 5th we will be going out on a 20 mile hike to break in some of our new equipment and to put it all through its paces so to speak [...] Recently completed 10 miles in my “new best friends”, (yes the boots!!) and no blisters which is great news! Its great to see the word of our challenge is spreading, and we have just hit the 170 mark on our fan page on face book. Both myself and Steve are busy securing prizes for some of our future planned [...] |
