On Sunday 29th May 2011, we hosted our Charity golf day at Caversham Heath Golf club on the outskirts of Reading, Berkshire. 44 Players were in attendance supporting the event, consisting of 33 club members and 11 guests.
Play stared at 8.00am sharp, with the first group hitting the golf course in a Texas Scramble 4 ball event, and the teams rolled out thick and fast until the last tee time at around 11.30am.
Players started to return to the club house from approx 12 noon, posting their scores and then enjoying a meal in the club house whilst they awaited the remainder of the field to return.
Scoring on the day was very impressive, despite playing off the Blue Tees which at 7,200 yards makes for a very long course in what ended up being rather blustery conditions. None the less, the first group came in with an impressive gross 74/Nett 67 which set the tone for the day. In the end, the competition was closely fought, and we have pleasure in confirming the following winners on the day:
Nearest to the Pin – 8th Hole – Congratulations to Club member Darren “Bullet” Bonney
Runners Up – with an impressive score of gross 65/Nett 60, guests Graham Bromham, Graham Stead, Eric Bromham & Ken Stead walked away with the runner up trophies
Winners – A fantastic score of gross 65/Nett 57 ended up as the low score of the day, so a big congratulations to course members Edward Houghton, Sean Houghton, Geoff Parlour & Gareth Goodall who took home the winners prize.
All in all, the day was a real success and enjoyed by all. Thanks for the support of all who attended, the players and golf club. A special thanks also to Sunil Shah at the golf club who worked hard in the back ground in helping set up what was a very successful day. We were able to raise £355.00 for the Institute of Cancer Research UK, adding to our overall cause which now stands at over £3,500!
Thank you again for everyone’s support.
