Fundraising day - a great Success!

On Sunday August 29th 2010, we had our fundraising day at Fairford Cricket Club in Gloucestershire. We arrived at approx 9.00am in the morning to pitch our stand and set up the stall, in time for the 1st cricket match starting at approx 10.30am. Other than the odd shower here and there, the weather was not too bad, and a very good day was enjoyed by all.

The day was a great success, helping us raise just under £500.00 for the Institute of Cancer Research UK.  Our main prize draw, which we have been selling tickets for over the course of the last few months, was completed, along with a Tombola, Guess the Teddy’s Name and Guess How Many Sweets in the Jar. Including all pre-event raffle ticket sales, this event raised over £1,400.00 for the charity, so again we would like to say a big thank you for all of your support and dontations which has made this event such a great success.

A lot of people provided us with invaluable help and assistance – both leading up to, and on the day – & we have a number of thank you’s to make to people who helped us make the day as succesful as it was. This list is by no means exhaustive! So….

  • A big thank you to Emma Court, for all of your help with the logistics of the day, multiple runs to the office for printing of literature and prize lists, arranging prize donations for the Tombola and for all of your support on the day;
  • Next Up, another big thank you to Lee Drewery who sold a large number of tickets for the main raffle draw in advance of the big day;
  • Georgie Giles – thanks go to Georgie for arranging a number of prizes for our Tombola feature;
  • Colin Bullock - or ”Moley” as he is known, for allowing us to attend the cricket club event in the first place!
  • To all of our prize donators – particularly to Solsis Limited, Tom Tom and Fairford Sports Centre for our 3 main raffle prizes;
  • To all who attended on the day, showing great support for our cause;
  • and finally to Nicola Chambers – my wife, for putting up with me over the past few months!

If you are not listed here, I apologise in advance! Suffice to say that we owe a lot of thanks to everyone who has been involved in the big day so once again, on behalf of Nathan and myself, thank you to you all for your support.

Moving on, we have pleasure in announcing the winners of all of the prize draws. After this event, we are now very close to the £3,000 mark for total dontations/sponsorship to date which represents 50% of our target. We are well on course to hitting our overall target and the fundraising event proved to be a very successful day.

All of the pictures which were taken on the day are available here.

Finally, we will keep you informed on our future planned events and fundraising days and you can keep up to speed as we announce details via the planned events section of our site.

Once again, thank you for your continued support.
