About Us

We are a couple of regular Joe’s fast approaching 40 years old, but for now are willing and able to do our bit for charity before it’s too late! Having known each other and been best mates for close to 20 years, both providing “Best Man” services at each other’s wedding, and occasionally working together at various points in the past we are confident that we can live in each other’s pocket for 9 days as we embark on our hike of the Great Wall of China in October 2011, raising money for the Institute of Cancer Research UK.

A little bit about Steve
I live in Reading, Berkshire, am married to Nicola, and have a daughter, Jordan. I have been in Reading for approx 10 years, but originally come from Witney in Oxfordshire where my parents, and two sisters/one brother still reside. I am currently working for Solsis Limited (see link on the left), providing IT services and Solutions to the business marketplace. This is my third charity event, having previously completed the London to Brighton Bike Ride in 2006 for the British Heart Foundation (raising £600), and more recently the 3 Peaks Challenge in September 2009, climbing Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours, supporting the Anthony Nolan Trust (team raising over £5,000). Nathan and I are best mates, and decided to support the Institute of Cancer Research UK together with our trek in March 2011. Check out the links below to visit me on LinkedIn and Facebook.

A little bit about Nathan
Hi – I’m Nathan and am married to Emma. I  have a 10yr old son Luke and a 7yr old step daughter Ella. Like so many other people I lost my grandfather to cancer and with the support of my family and roping in my good friend Steve –  a seasoned charity campaigner!! – I have decided to undertake this challenge to raise money for this great cause. I am currently working for PC World as a general manager and this will be my first charity event, so nothing like starting out small!!In my spare time – which is very limited –  I enjoy playing golf, so yes I’m not the fittest person on the planet which makes this challenge even more of an uphill battle. I hope you keep an eye on our site to find out how we are getting along with the training and give us encouragement along the way!Lastly I would like to thank you in anticipation for your kind donations to this great cause,Wish Us luck!!!
